Biking Boston.. .

Boston is a Great City.. Fantastic views at different points within the city, world renowned universities, highly educated populace, amazing hospitals and championship sports teams!

Another underrated aspect of the city is it’s scenic bike routes around various areas within the city and it’s metro. Traffic can be TREACHEROUS, so I wouldn’t mind just ZIPPING through the city with my bike all while having a good laugh at these hopeless drivers haha trying to get anywhere within two hours. So let’s see where we can get some great biking areas to check out!

Charlestown Waterfront

Charlestown Waterfront Bike Path

Let’s start with the Charlestown.. At the Waterfront.. If you like riding by the water, love history & historical places, all within a short ride less than the mile, then why look anywhere else?!?.. . If you’re looking for history, then you’ll pass the Charlestown Navy Yard, the USS Constitution and the Bunker Hill Monument is not too far away as well. Go Check it Out!

Minuteman Parkway.

Minuteman Parkway

Let’s check the next one.. The Minuteman Parkway.. This trail, which runs along an inactive railroad, is about 11 miles long running through Arlington all the way to Lexington. There’s water and a good amount of trees along the way, having a slightly secluded feel to it. Apparently this route also approximates, Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride through Lexington and Arlington. So, history, water and a plethora of trees?!.. . Sounds like a winner!

Arnold Arboretum.

Arnold Arboretum

Next stop.. The Arnold Arboretum.. Placed in between Jamaica Plain and Roslindale, it’s a great getaway within a city. It’s literally the oldest public arboretum in North America, at around 150 years old. This arboretum offers a slightly longer trail at around 4.6 miles and does offer a place at Peter’s Hill where you can relax after riding. Peter’s Hill does offer beautiful views of Boston, which is a great touch to this arboretum.

Jamaicaway, Boston.

Jamaicaway Bike Path

The marathon continues.. This stop.. Jamaicaway’s Bike Path. Stretching nine miles long with artwork and the beautiful Olmstead park to look at while riding, it offers a very relaxing option for bike riding. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of water fountains along the way for you to stop and take a sip as well.

The Charles River Bike Path.

The Charles River Bike Path

Last stop.. The Charles River Bike Path.. Arguably the most scenic of them all, stretching from The Museum of Science in East Cambridge to Watertown. It’s very relaxing on most parts, but also offers a touch of adrenaline as Storrow Drive, Memorial Drive and the busyness of the city is still around. On this path, you’ll want to either take it slow to soak the scenery or just zip through and race to the end.

Boston’s a great city for many things and you’ll find soon enough that the plethora of biking trail options just adds to the overall experience.
